Recognising the need for improved quality as required by some micro-electronics, medical and aerospace industries we have recently invested heavily in our Cleanroom coating and laminating line.

Although designed to allow us to service these specific and demanding applications, we can think of no particular coated product that will not benefit from being processed inside a cleanroom environment. The result is that all our customers will benefit.

In addition to the Cleanroom aspect, the coater is faster, wider and longer than the old coating and laminating line it replaces.

Solvent based and Water based coating and laminating can be processed. Paper, film, foil and tissue substrates can be handled.

Clean room processing

The coating head is of a trolley (or cartridge) design in order for us to easily integrate different coating head types should an application demand a specific coating method.

Our current coating head is of a proprietary design based on knife-over-roll technology, but eliminates the coating defects typical of this method and provides for much improved cross-web and down-web coating accuracy.

The multi-zone dryer is of all stainless steel internal construction and the air within is maintained to a Class 1000 standard.

Latest generation carbon-fibre construction idler rollers and tendency driven rollers in the dryer coupled with individual tension zones all work together precisely to provide for scratch-free film handling.

The line is equipped with:

• non-contact web cleaners
• monitored static elimination
• double-sided corona treatment
• precision laser length measurement
• in-line continuous coatweight monitoring
