In late December 2005 we placed orders for a complete new solvent and aqueous, coating, drying & laminating line.
This new line will be designed to be able to run faster and wider than any we’ve previously considered. It will also have a much higher drying capability. All the coating equipment will be situated in a purpose built clean enclosure with pressure, humidity & temperature carefully controlled within.
Entry and exit to this area will be strictly controlled for both personnel and raw materials, and then only possible through pressurised portals.
Corona treatment, web-cleaning and in-line coatweight monitoring will be featured.
Furthermore, the coating section will have precision cartridge (trolley type) coating heads, to enable us to quickly change to the coating method that best suits whatever one of the various formulations we coat, or are asked to coat in the future.
The idea being that new cartridges employing coating methods we currently do not have can be added relatively easily, as and when customers demand them. Which would be impractical with the more common fixed coating heads.
Design of the layout and web-path is underway. The intention being that we are prepared to install and commission by October 2006
