New cleanroom coating & laminating line installation

Our brand new cleanroom coating and laminating line is currently under installation and first test runs will commence Monday 16th October.

This new machine is designed around cleanroom operating standards. The unwind units are driven by AC motors instead of disc brakes with all the associated dust problems. The dryer air is passed through HEPA filters. All the machine guarding and any conduit or ducting within the cleanroom is all fabricated in stainless steel. Even the product lifting beams are fabricated in stainless steel. The entire line is to be located within a filtered air enclosure with access restricted through a changing room for operators and two pressurised portals for product delivery and removal.

The area around the coating head has humidity control in addition to clean and temperature conditioned air. This area is also our hazardous ATEX Zone 1 area and all equipment located within is manufactured to the latest ATEX standard.

To make sure our operators can keep the dryer clean, we have had every upper air nozzle and all the 1st zone upper chamber plasma release coated. Adhesive or any other non-adhesive formulation can easily be rolled off these components rather than the usual scraping and solvent soaking excersize.

To ensure scratch-free web running the idler rollers in the dryer are all driven and the path rollers throughout the coating line are ultra-low inertia carbon-fibre construction. Very expensive compared to other materials of construction, but worth every penny we think.

There are non-contact web-cleaners at either end, a double-sided corona treater and on-line coatweight monitoring, all contributing to increased quality.
